Have you ever felt like very heavy crushed, strangled, chest tightness, unable to move or scream, just before sleep or wake up? In medical terms is called sleep paralysis.  It is a condition when a person will be sleeping or waking up feeling like a strangled breathlessness, chest tightness, difficulty to move or scream. These occurrence are usually accompanied by hallucinations, like seeing the figure around the bed, and can take place in a matter of seconds to minutes. This phenomenon is often associated with the occult or magic. Therefore, the form of hallucinations may appear to resemble the figure of friends, relatives, who had died, the black shadow, ghost, or even aliens depending on the cultural background.

Malfunction sleep
"Squeezing most often occurs in people who are less sleep. It could be triggered by fatigue, stress, and excessive anxiety" said Dr. Andreas Prasadja, RPSGT, sleep technologist of the Sleep Disorder Clinic, RS Mitra Kemayoran Jakarta - Indonesia.A researcher sleep paralysis, Al Cheyne of the University of Waterloo argues, sleep paralysis is a kind of hallucination due to a malfunction of the sleep stage of rapid eye movement (REM).

Defined by Dr. Andreas, sleep is divided into several stages based on brain waves, that is N1, N2, N3, and R. The order was usually starts from N1-N2-N3
back to N2-R back to N2-N3 back to N2-R again and back to the N2-N3 and so on.N1 is the lightest stage of sleep, we often still semi-conscious. N2 is the deeper stages of sleep, and the deepest stage occurs in N3. R is REM and in this stage the dream happen.Frequencies dream wave of brain have similar with realized wave. This explains why people can feel in another's consciousness when dreaming.Condition of the body is too tired or sleep deprived often makes brain waves not follow the steps that should be to sleeping. From the conscious to the N1 and then jump to R (dream). The uniqe  in this dream arise hallucinations, appearance another figure and paralysis, so the body can not move or scream like chrushed.

Supine position
Squeezing can occur in men and women. The average age of people for the first time to feel sleep paralysis is at 14-17 years. Estimated everyone has squeezing experienced at least once or twice in his life. Squeezing can be caused by something that can not be controlled and giving rise stress and then carried away in a dream.Working conditions are influential too. For example, those who work in shifts system and have irregular sleep patterns (less sleep). That is also often occurs in individuals who sleep in the supine position, almost in a state of deep or almost awake from sleep. Therefore, change the sleeping position can reduce the risk of squeezing.

Symptoms of depression
Although uncommon, squeezing is need to wary because it can be a symptom of disease, such as narcolepsy, sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, or less sleep. If its often happen to you it's good to make note about your sleep patterns for a couple of weeks, to help determine the cause of oppression. After knowing the trigger factors, the ideal way to prevent it is avoid triggers of course. If the squeezing as a result of too tired, try to rest more. Try to sleep 8-10 hours at the same hour every night. If squeezing accompanied by other symptoms, it's good to consultation with a doctor or a sleep specialist to be examined further and the note that have been made will be very helpful when you went to the doctor.Doctors need to know when squeezing starts and how long it has lasted and the types of drugs that have or being used. People that insomnia can be a sedative to ease his sleep."Less sleep can't be underestimated. If it is causing sleep paralysis, it's mean the condition was too heavy. It requires self-evaluation and inadequate sleep needs.
